Facebook announced that it will be expanding its efforts to fight the spread of misinformation regarding the Coronavirus and the Coronavirus vaccines on its platforms.

The social network will remove content claiming that COVID-19 is human-made or manufactured; that vaccines are not effective at preventing the disease they are meant to protect against; that it is safer to be infected with the disease than to be vaccinated; or that vaccines are toxic, dangerous or cause autism.

Facebook stated that it will aggressively enforce this policy and will focus on pages, groups, and accounts that violate these rules. Groups, pages, and accounts on Facebook or Instagram that repeatedly share these claims may be removed altogether.

The company also said that it is continuously working to improve search results on its platforms to direct people to relevant and authoritative information about COVID-19 and vaccines.
