President-Elect Trump has nominated Elaine Chao to serve as Secretary of Transportation in his new Administration. Ms. Chao has held a variety of senior government positions, having formerly served as Secretary of Labor for George W. Bush, and as Deputy Secretary of the Department of Transportation. Ms. Chao also has served as the Administrator of the Maritime Administration. Ms. Chao also is the wife of Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY), the Senate Majority Leader.
