Last month, we were informed by the Ministry of Trade and Economy that new regulations will take effect on 5 April 2019 with respect to powers of attorney (PoA).

KUWAIT CITY – Last month, we were informed by the Ministry of Trade and Economy that new regulations will take effect on 5 April 2019 with respect to powers of attorney (PoA). You can read about it here:

After several negotiations with the officials in the IP Department, the Ministry has, today, withdrew said regulations and informed IP agents orally making the PoA requirements as follows:

  • Late filing of the PoA is possible with 1 month from the filing date, however, softcopy of the PoA is mandatory for filing;
  • One PoA will be sufficient to file multiple applications belonging to the same applicant, and
  • The term of validity of the PoA of 10 years sill stands.
