Following the recent enactment of Industrial Property Law No. 050/AN/09, and the establishment of an IP Office (ODPIC), a new scale of official fees has been introduced with effect from 9 June 2012.

Despite strong objections and lobbying from practitioners, the official fees have been set at a very high level. The fee for registering a trade mark in one class has increased by seven times and the fee for a renewal in one class has increased by almost six times. However, on a more positive note, there has been no increase in the fees payable for a recordal of change of name, change of address or assignment.
