Parsons Behle & Latimer (Parsons) attorney Andres F. Morelli has been elected to serve as a member of the Disability Law Center, Utah (DLC) Board of Trustees in Salt Lake City. The DLC is a private, non-profit organization designated by the governor as Utah's Protection and Advocacy agency. The DLC's mission is to enforce and advance the legal rights, opportunities and choices of Utahns with disabilities. Morelli was elected by the existing board and will serve a three-year term.

A litigation attorney in Parsons' Park City office, Morelli focuses his practice on complex business, commercial, and construction litigation. He says that at its core, the DLC believes in effectuating change on a broad level, ensuring that people with disabilities, who historically have had fewer rights and resources, have access to the services they deserve – something that Morelli is personally familiar with, having a brother with Down Syndrome. For this reason, as well as others, Morelli says he is extremely proud to serve on the board. Parsons has a long history of partnership and providing legal support to the DLC.

"What is more fulfilling than giving back to those who don't have the means or ability to demand what they deserve and are entitled to?" Morelli says. "Pro bono work is a great source of personal satisfaction and fulfillment as well as an opportunity to meet outstanding people in our community. I'm looking forward to providing whatever help I can provide to the DLC, whether that is simply my time and legal expertise or my connections."

Past President of the DLC and Parsons' Director, Vice President and litigation attorney Juliette P. White says, "As a former member and President of the Board of the DLC, I know first-hand how incredible this organization is and how much value they provide to Utahns with disabilities and their families. Andy is an outstanding lawyer and devoted community member, and I am confident he will bring all of his skills and expertise to the table as he provides this valuable service."

"As an attorney, it's easy to get wrapped up in the matters we work on day-to-day, and there's nothing wrong with that. But as lawyers, we have an obligation to do more," Morelli says. "Pro bono work is incredibly rewarding, and it helps keep things in perspective."
