Data revealed by the U.S. Department of Labor (the DOL Data) at the end of June, 2016 shows that the top 10 most common professions under the H-1B program include Computer Systems Analysts, Software Developers, Computer Programmers, Computer Occupations, Software Developers, Management Analysts, Network and Computer Systems Analysts among a few others. Wipro, BirlaSoft, TCS and Infosys continue to be part of the top 10 employers of H-1B workers. This data shows that the largest consumers of the H-1B program are IT and ITES companies and the largest number of beneficiaries are for jobs in these sectors. With India being a leader in this sector it is natural that four of the top ten employers are affiliates of Indian companies. The DOL Data does not provide information about the nationality of the beneficiaries.

Going forward, though the numeric limits on H-1B visas are not directed at India, Indian companies will continue to struggle with issues when seeking to deploy Indian workers to the U.S.
