Ministry Of Public Security Issues A Resolution Regarding Rehabilitation Of Residencies For Foreigners That Have Been Outside Of Panama

The Ministry of Public Security has issued Resolution 22657 of August 12, 2015, by which the Rehabilitation of the Permanent Residency of the foreigners that have remained outside of the national territory for a period of more than two (2) years and up to maximum of six (6) years.

The resolution further regulates the faculty of the Ministry of Public Security to cancel the Panamanian residency of those foreigners that have remained for more than two (2) continuous years outside of the national territory.

A rehabilitation proceeding for residency is established in the case of foreigners that have remained more than two (2) years and up to a maximum of six (6) years outside of the national territory, requiring them to file the same updated requirements of the immigration category for which their residency was approved and a notarized sworn statement of the reasons why they were absent from the national territory for more than the established time.

Foreigners that have remained outside of the national territory for more than six (6) years must file a new immigration request.
