Jonathan Mesiano-Crookston will co-chair the Ontario Bar Association's 16th Annual Franchise Law Conference on November 17, 2016

Jonathan Mesiano-Crookston of Goldman Hine LLP, will be co-chairing – along with Derek Ronde of Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP – the 16th annual OBA Franchise Law Conference, which will be held on November 17, 2016 at 20 Toronto Street, Toronto, Ontario.

This year's conference will focus on advanced topics focussing on the intersection of franchise and various other areas of law.  Advanced disclosure issues, the intersection of bankruptcy and franchising law, the role of equity in franchising law, a look at franchise class actions in Canada, a comparison of US and Canadian law, issues arising on purchase or sale of franchise units and franchise systems, and much more.

The Conference will also host a series of round-tables on franchise-related topics, the granting of the Markus Cohen Q.C. Memorial Award, and the popular and now-famous Annual Legal & Legislative Update, which rolls up all the developments in franchise law and jurisprudence over the past year into one end of day presentation.

The round table presentations will be on a variety of diverse topics that range from negligence claims in the area of franchise law, to conflicts of interest that can arise with your franchise clients, to financial damages matters, controlling disclosure document release, to intellectual property.
