Five Round 1 and 2 offshore wind farm projects in England have been awarded extensions by The Crown Estate. An additional 2GW of capacity will be created, which has the potential to power up to 1.4 million homes.

The Round 1 and 2 extensions are due to commence in 2014, subject to appropriate consents being obtained. Completion of the projects is expected by the end of 2016, in advance of Round 3. Those projects selected for extension have been able to demonstrate that those timescales can be met.
