Katherine (Kate) Driscoll and Mary Kaiser have been named 2023 D.C. Rising Stars by The National Law Journal. The Rising Star awards recognize the 40 most promising lawyers age 40 and younger in the Washington, D.C. area who have become influential in their areas of practice.

Kate, Of Counsel in Morrison Foerster's Investigations + White Collar Defense group, was recognized for her track record in high-stakes investigations and complex criminal and civil litigation. Among her recent engagements, she has represented Anthony Ornato, a senior career civil servant who most recently served in a high-ranking operations position in the Trump Administration, in a January 6 Select Committee investigation, U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation, and U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Office of Inspector General investigation. Kate is also advising an international consulting firm related to its work for opioid manufacturers, which involves complex, multi-dimensional work involving state attorneys general, DOJ, and congressional investigations, as well as more than 140 civil lawsuits that are now in a Multi-District Litigation.

Mary, a partner in Morrison Foerster's Global Antitrust Law group, was selected as a Rising Star for her skillful representation of both plaintiffs and defendants in antitrust and competition-related matters, including in the last year defending Nexstar Media Group in a putative class action alleging price-fixing of television advertising in multiple markets nationwide; representing Provi in a landmark antitrust lawsuit involving cutting-edge competition issues in the online market for alcohol distribution; representing Cedar AI in federal and state prosecuting antitrust counterclaims against a competing software provider; defending a global consumer products manufacturer against monopolization claims related to its patent rights; and obtaining a favorable settlement on behalf of Matsuo Electric in a price-fixing cartel class action.
