On 19 November 2020, the UK Government confirmed that the address for service rules in respect of UK trade marks, designs and patents will change from January 2021, such that all new UK trade mark, design and patent applications and oppositions will need a UK (or Channel Islands) address for service.  Currently, an address for service anywhere in the European Economic Area can be used.  The Government intends to pass the necessary legislation before the end of this year.
