HOUSTON Brad Y. Chin, chair of Bracewell's intellectual property practice, has been elected a Fellow of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA). AIPLA Fellows are a distinguished group of association members with a track record of outstanding service to AIPLA; prominence within the IP profession; contributions to the IP profession through teaching and writing; and adherence to the highest standards of ethical conduct.

Chin is a registered patent attorney who counsels clients in IP portfolio management and strategic business relationships. His practice focuses on the procurement, monetization, and enforcement of intellectual property rights, particularly patent and trademark procurement and enforcement, licensing and technology transfer, IP opinion preparation, IP government contracting compliance, and corporate due diligence. Chin has held numerous leadership roles in AIPLA's committees, including the International Foreign Law Committee, Online Programs Committee, IP Practice in China Committee, and the AIPLA 360 Review – Local Outreach Working Group. He is also an active member of Bracewell's Diversity & Inclusion Committee and mentors attorneys and law students in their career development.

AIPLA is a national, voluntary association that aims to raise the profile of IP law and provide legal education on IP issues. Elected by AIPLA's Board of Directors, AIPLA Fellows are a special category of members and affiliates of the association. Fellows focus their activities on mentoring and on special projects brought to them by the Board and other AIPLA committees.
