28 May 2020 – The Slovak Republic has adopted measures enabling short-term travel to and from the country effective 27 May 2020. Slovak residents (permanent or temporary) may now travel to eight countries (Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Germany, and Switzerland). No mandatory 14-day quarantine or obligation to provide a negative RT-PCR SARS-CoV-2 test (the "Test") will apply upon arrival back to the Slovak Republic within 48 hours of departure ("Short-term travel").
Negotiations of the Slovak officials with representatives of the respective countries are on-going. The aim is to unify conditions—mainly to agree on reciprocity and that the negative Test will not be required.
As of 27 May 2020, the Slovak Republic has agreed on reciprocal Short-term travel only with the Czech Republic and Hungary. When departing from the Slovak Republic, individuals will be asked to provide the police with a filled-in form. The approved form will be returned to the individual and must be presented again when returning to the country.
Conditions for traveling to other countries:
Individuals from countries listed in the table above who are not permanent or temporary residents of the Slovak Republic may only travel to the Slovak Republic in exceptional purposes, e.g. transit or work.
