The Ecuadorian Internal Revenue Service recently passed a new resolution requiring companies and employers to present employee tax retention information on diskette to the IRS. Resolution No. 0861 is meant to make the recording and verification of labor retention taxes more dynamic and efficient. This resolution is retroactive and will apply to retention declarations for the years 2000 and 2001.

The electronic form to be used in preparing the retention declaration on diskette is available at www.sri.gov.ec. Resolution No. 0861 was published in Official Register No. 457 on November 20, 2001.
