A 2017 priority for Dutch listed companies will be acquainting themselves with the new Dutch Corporate Governance Code and bringing their corporate governance structure in line with its principles and best practices. The new Code was published on 8 December 2016; Dutch listed companies will report in 2018 on compliance with the new Code for the 2017 financial year. The Code puts more emphasis on long-term value creation, which is reflected in new and revised best practices in the fields of strategy, risk management, culture, remuneration, and effective management and supervision.

We discussed the highlights and details of the new Code in our Legal Alerts of 8 December and 9 December 2016. Our Corporate Governance Toolbox will soon be published, providing further guidance on the next steps for listed companies.
