On 2 September 2016, the Bulgarian Commission for Protection of Competition proposed a draft act for amendments (the "Draft") to the Competition Protection Act (the "CPA"). These amendments aim to implement Directive 2014/104/EU of the European Parliament and the Council of 26 November 2014, on certain rules governing actions for damages under national law, for infringements of competition law provisions of Member States, and of the European Union (the "Directive").

Currently, the Draft is open for public consultation. All interested parties may submit their proposals and opinions under the Draft by 17 September to the Ministry of Economy via email.

More information regarding the main changes brought about by the Directive to be implemented in the CPA, can be found at the website of the Directorate-General for Competition, Antitrust section.
